Hrithik Roshan

Hrithik Roshan Biography
Hrithik Roshan was born on 10 January 1974 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, is an Indian actor who appears in Bollywood films.

Roshan’s first movie role was as a child artist when he was six years old in the 1980s movie Aasha, where he appeared in a dance sequence as an extra. Roshan went on to play minor roles in Aap Ke Deewane (1980) and Bhagwan Dada (1986) both of which starred his father Rakesh Roshan in the leading role. He then became an assistant director assisting in the production of his father’s films Karan Arjun (1995) and Koyla (1997).

After having appeared in films as a child actor in the 1980s, Roshan made his film debut in a leading role in Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai (2000) for which Roshan earned his Filmfare Awards for Best Actor and Best Male Debut. In 2001, he went on to appear in the melodrama Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham…, which became India’s highest-grossing film in the overseas market and his biggest commercial success to date.

Following through with several unnoticed performances from 2002–03, he starred in the commercially successful Koi… Mil Gaya and its sequel Krrish, both of which won him numerous Best Actor awards. Roshan received his third Filmfare Award for Best Actor in 2006 for his performance in the action film Dhoom 2. He later received critical acclaim for his performance in Jodhaa Akbar, for which he received his first international award at the Golden Minbar International Film Festival. These accomplishments have established him as a leading contemporary actor of Hindi cinema.

Roshan had an unsuccessful year in 2002 when all three of his releases – Mujhse Dosti Karoge!, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum and Aap Mujhe Achche Lagne Lage – failed to make an impact the box office and were declared flops.

In 2003, he made a comeback with the science-fiction film Koi… Mil Gaya, which saw him playing a mentally disabled young man. The film was the highest grosser of the year and won him many awards, including his second Filmfare Best Actor Award and his first Filmfare Best Actor (Critics) Award. Taran Adarsh noted, “Hrithik Roshan dominates the show and packs in a power-packed performance. The role of a mentally challenged person is no cakewalk, but the actor takes to it like a fish takes to water. He manages to pull off the zero to hero routine exceptionally well. As an actor, he scales dizzier heights with this splendid performance.”

Farhan Akhtar’s Lakshya was Roshan’s only release in 2004; the film did not do well at the box office. However, his performance was praised by critics.

Roshan took a two-year break from acting before resurfacing with the superhero film Krrish, a sequel to his 2003 film Koi… Mil Gaya which released in June 2006. The film was a major box office success and became the second highest grosser of 2006. His performance as a superhero was praised, earning him many Best Actor awards at various award ceremonies, including Star Screen and the International Indian Film Academy. IndiaFM wrote, “To state that Hrithik is the soul of Krrish would be an understatement. If the actor walked away with all noteworthy awards in Koi… Mil Gaya, it’s going to be an encore with Krrish.

You cannot imagine any other actor enacting the role of a gifted child with aplomb. If his mask and robe look is splendid, watch his make up, gait and mannerisms as the aged father and you had agree, he’s one of the finest talents on the Indian screen today. Krrish is yet another ground-breaking film in his dazzling repertoire!”

His next film that year was Dhoom 2, a sequel to the 2004 Dhoom. Featured opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Roshan’s performance in the movie not only earned him widespread critical acclaim, but also his third Filmfare Best Actor Award. The film went on to become the highest grossing film of 2006, as well as one of the most successful films of Bollywood.

In 2008, Roshan featured in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Jodhaa Akbar opposite Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Hrithook Roshan is also rumored to have driven several 350z’s. He played the historical role of Akbar the Great. The movie did very good business, both in India and abroad. His performance in the movie was widely appreciated by critics, earning him his fourth Filmfare Best Actor Award as well as his first international award for Best Actor at the Golden Minbar International Film Festival in Kazan, Russia.

Roshan then appeared in Zoya Akhtar’s Luck by Chance (2009), in which he made a guest appearance. He was recently seen in Anurag Basu’s Kites along with Mexican actress Bárbara Mori and Kangna Ranaut, which released on May 21, 2010. The film failed to do well at the box office after taking a huge start and was a flop however, Roshan’s performance in the film was highly praised.

In 2010 he acted in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film Guzaarish opposite Aishwarya Rai which didn’t perfrom well in Box office and is currently filming for Zoya Akhtar’s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara opposite Katrina Kaif. Roshan is set to commence filming for Shekhar Kapur’s next directorial venture titled Paani opposite Shriya Saran and also the remake of 1990 release Agneepath.

Roshan was born in Mumbai to a Punjabi Hindu family of cinema personalities. His father, film director Rakesh Roshan, is the son of music director Roshan, while his mother, Pinky, is the daughter of producer and director J. Om Prakash. Hrithik has an elder sister, Sunaina. His uncle Rajesh Roshan is a famous music director. As a child, Roshan attended the Bombay Scottish School. He later attended Sydenham College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Commerce.

During an interview he revealed that his childhood was traumatized because of stammering, a defect that surfaced when he was around six years old and plagues him even today. “For oral tests at school, I used to bunk school, I used to fall sick, I used to break my hand, I used to get a sprain” the actor said.He however said that things improved for him gradually, after he started practicing speech therapies on a daily basis.

Salman Khan

Salman Khan Biography
Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan, born on 27 December 1965, is an Indian film actor who appears in Bollywood films.

Salman was born in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, into a family with strong ties to the film industry. His father Salim Khan is a successful screenplay writer. One of Salim Khan’s wives (he has two) is the famous dancer Helen. Salman’s brothers Sohail Khan and Arbaaz Khan are also actors, if not as successful as Salman. Salman has has two younger sisters, one married to actor Atul Agnihotri.

Salman has been in the news for all the wrong reasons. He was charged with hunting the endangered Blackbucks. He was arrested for drunk driving and vehicular homicide. He lost control of his car and killed three people who had been sleeping on a Mumbai sidewalk. The media had a field day with his romantic misadventures (a rocky romance with actress Aishwarya Rai, now ended) and his brawls.

Despite being considered as Bollywood’s “badboy”, many people swear by his friendship and benevolent nature. He is always involved in charitable causes and is said to be a frequent visitor to old-age homes and cancer hospitals. He is also very strongly devoted to his friends and family.

None of Salman’s latest films has been as successful as his earlier hits, but he is still considered one of the top actors in Bollywood. People still say that the industry is ruled by the so-called “three Khans” (Shahrukh Khan , Aamir Khan, and Salman Khan).

He always appears in films wearing a bracelet with a turquoise stone; his father wears a similar “lucky” bracelet. He frequently appears in films sans shirt — he is a dedicated bodybuilder and directors rarely miss a chance to show off the results.

Zaheer khan

Zaheer khan Biography
Zaheer Khan was born on 7 October 1978 in Shrirampur, Maharashtra, India, is an Indian cricketer who has been a member of the Indian cricket team since 2000. A left arm fast bowler considered as the best of the Indian fast bowling attack, Zaheer is known for his ability to swing the ball both ways, and as a batsman also holds the record for the highest Test score by a No. 11.

After leading the Indian pace attack for much of the early 2000s, recurring hamstring injuries in 2003 and 2004 forced him out of the team, and after returning for a year, he was dropped again in late 2005. Strong performances on the domestic circuit have seen him recalled to the team as its leading pace bowler. Zaheer can also use reverse swing.

Zaheer was selected in 2000 for the first intake of the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore. He made his Test debut against Bangladesh and ODI debut against Kenya during the ICC KnockOut Trophy in the same year.

In late 2005 pacemen Sreesanth and R. P. Singh made their international debuts and became regular members of the Indian team making it difficult for Zaheer to retain his position in the playing eleven. The Board of Control for Cricket in India demoted Zaheer from a B-grade to a C-grade contract at the end of the year. He returned for the 2006 tour of Pakistan, where India fielded three left arm pacemen and had difficulty dismissing Pakistan with a lack of variety in the bowling attack. Zaheer, with inferior results to those of Irfan Pathan and Singh, was dropped.

In Indian domestic cricket, Zaheer made his name playing for Baroda. In the 2000/01 Ranji Trophy final against Railways, Zaheer was Man of the Match with eight wickets, including a second innings haul of 5/43, in Baroda’s narrow 21-run victory. He transferred to Mumbai at the start of the 2006-07 Indian cricket season his debut for Mumbai until the final of the Ranji Trophy in which he took 9 wickets as Mumbai defeated Bengal.

In 2006 Zaheer signed for Worcestershire County Cricket Club in England as one of their two overseas players, replacing Shoaib Akhtar. Although Worcestershire went on to lose the match, Zaheer took ten wickets against Somerset on debut, in doing so he became the first Worcestershire player to take 10 wickets on debut for over 100 years. In June he took the first nine wickets to fall in the first innings against Essex, ending with 9-138; had wicket-keeper Steven Davies not dropped a catch offered by last man Darren Gough he would have become the first bowler ever to take all ten for the county.

Late in 2006, Zaheer was recalled to the Test and ODI team for the tour of South Africa, following Irfan Pathan’s slump in form and an injury to Munaf Patel. After consistent performances on tour, his performance in early 2007 in home ODIs against the West Indies and Sri Lanka, including a career best 5/42, saw him named in the squad for the 2007 World Cup.

He won the Man of the Match award in the first Test between India and Australia in the 2008-2009 series in India for his all round performance with the bat and the ball. He became the third Indian, after Rusi Surti and Kapil Dev, to score a half century and take five wickets in an innings in the same match against Australia. He has since become the strike-bowler and a permanent fixture in the Indian team. Zaheer also won the Man of the Match award in the 2009 T20 World Cup match against Ireland for taking 4/19.

India is having many quality pacers but none of them is so much consistent, reliable and experienced like Zak. He is part of Indian team since 2000s but he became a much needed pacer for the Indian side since the eary 2007s because of the unconsistancy and poor form of the rest of the Indian pacers.

He has taken 271 ODI wickets at an average of 28.83 runs per wicket taking 4 wickets in a match 6 times (4 times against Zimbabwe) including 32 wickets against Zimbabwe at an average of 17.46 runs per dismissal. He, along with other seamers like Javagal Srinath and Ashish Nehra helped India to make it to the finals of the 2003 World Cup. Zaheer finished the tournament as fourth highest wicket-taker 18 wickets from 11 matches at an average of 20 runs per wicket.

Zaheer was the mainstay of Indian bowling attack during the side’s victorious 2011 World Cup campaign. He was the leading wicket-taker in the tournament, joint with Pakistan’s Shahid Afridi on 21 Zaheer was the key for INDIA’s world cup win in INDIA in 2011.he was jointly highest wicket taker with 21 wickets in 9 matches with great economy rate of 4.83 runs/over.

Zaheer has taken over 250 Test wickets at an average of just over 33 runs per wicket. In 16 matches from the beginning of the tour of West Indies in April 2002 to the end of the 1st match against Australia in December 2003, Brisbane, Zaheer took 54 wickets from 16 matches at an average of 30 runs. It all turned downhill after the first Test against Australia in Brisbane in December 2003. Having taken 5 of the top 7 Australian batsmen in the first innings (5 for 95), he injured himself in the second during the opening spell. After missing the second Test he returned for the third, but was injured midway through the match and was forced to return home. The injury kept him from the early 2004 tour of Pakistan, India’s first Test series victory in the country.

Zaheer holds the world record for the highest Test score by a number 11 when he scored 75 against Bangladesh in 2004. At the time he was batting with Sachin Tendulkar; the pair amassed 133 runs, a new record for India’s tenth-wicket.

In July India embarked on a tour of England. Having bowled 13.3 overs, Zaheer strained his hamstring and suffered an ankle injury in the first Test of the four-match series and as a result was ruled out of the rest of the tour.

Imran khan

Imran khan Biography
Imran Khan (Mohammad Imran Khan Niazi, born November 25, 1952) was a Pakistani cricketer (1971-1992) and captain of the Pakistani cricket team. He is currently a member of the National Assembly, the lower house of the Pakistani parliament.

Khan is seen as Pakistan’s finest ever all-rounder and, along with Garfield Sobers, Kapil Dev and Ian Botham, one of the greatest of all time. He made his Test debut against England at Birmingham in 1971 at the age of 18 where his performance was not impressive. He took his maiden Test wicket three years later, in 1974, in another tour of England. In the same year, he made his ODI debut also against England at Nottingham. His first 4 wicket haul in Test cricket came in 1976 against New Zealand at home. He scored his maiden Test fifty at Karachi in the same series.

Imran Khan’s transformation from a raw erratic medium pacer to a fast bowler of genuine pace took place during the 3 test series in Australia in 1976-77. He took 12 wickets in the 3rd test match at Sydney to help secure an unexpected win for Pakistan. Subsequently, Imran Khan joined the Kerry Packer cricket where under the guidance of John Snow and Mike Proctor, he harnessed his fast or seam bowling skills.

Following a turmoil in Pak leadership in early 1982, Imran took over the captaincy from Javed Miandad. At the same time, he reached the peak of his career as a fast bowler and an all-rounder, topping both the bowling and batting averages against England in 1982 and then devastating the formidable Indian batting lineup at home in 1982-83 by taking 40 wickets. During a period of just over a year, he had taken 88 wickets in 13 test matches. However, his career took a severe blow after the test series against India in 1982-83, when he suffered from a stress fracture in the shin that kept him out of cricket for more than two years. A short while after returning to cricket in 1985, Imran took over the captaincy of Pakistan and during the next six years, captained Pakistan to series wins in England, India, as well as a creditable draw in West Indies. As a captain, his biggest achievment came in the twilight of his career in early 1992 when Pakistan won the cricket world cup under him.

In 88 Test matches for his country, Khan scored 3807 runs and took 362 wickets (3rd best by a Pakistani after Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis) at an average of 22.81 runs per wicket (the best by a Pakistani). He took 10 wickets in a match 6 times, which is the highest by a Pakistani. He captained his country for 48 matches. In first-class cricket, he took more than 1000 wickets at an average of 22.32 runs per wicket.

Khan went to school in Lahore and then attended the Royal Grammar School Worcester and Keble College, Oxford where he was also Captain of the Oxford University Cricket team in 1974. He comes from a cricketing family with two of his cousins Javed Burki and Majid Khan also having played test cricket for Pakistan.

He was married to Jemima (aka Haiqa) Khan who is the daughter of the late British billionaire Sir James Goldsmith. Jemima Khan embraced Islam before she married Khan. They announced their divorce on 22 June 2004.

Since retiring from Pakistani Test cricket, Khan has been devoting most of his time to the Shaukat Khannum Memorial Hospital, a state-of-the-art charitable Cancer Hospital that he established using donations in Lahore. In recent years he has started a socio-political movement in Pakistan known as ‘Tehrik-i-Insaf’ or ‘Movement for Justice’ and ran for office in the National Elections. He became a Member of Parliament for Mianwali in the October 2002 elections.

Amongst his honours include being awarded the Hilal-e-Imtiaz in 1993 by the Pakistani government, Honorary Fellow of Keble College, Oxford and Wisden Cricketer of the Year 1983.

Imran Khan is now a politician, admired for his sincerity and criticised for his confused political stand on different issues. Imran Khan was appointed as Chancellor of the University of Bradford from 28 April 2005. He was in the news after Newsweek alleged that his “reading out aloud” their article describing the Quran desecration played a part in the frenzy that followed.
